About Tumaini

Tumaini Schools Tanzania brings together three campuses operated by TETC Tanzania Limited. This website helps families compare schools, explore learning stages and manage an application.

Our beginnings

In 2004, Modest and Lightness Bayo began teaching 17 children in their home. Carol Hall and Frank Lee established Tanzania Education Corporation (TEC) in 2007 to support that local initiative.

A growing school community

The Junior campus developed during 2008–2011. The Tauck Library followed in 2013. Senior opened in 2016; TX followed in 2017. Advanced Level teaching began in 2020.

People behind the schools

TEC lists Modest Bayo as director and co-founder, and Lightness Bayo as co-founder. Its school leaders include Sifael Martin at Senior, Eliza Fabian as interim headmistress at Junior, and Penina Kamatia at pre-primary. These are the roles published by TEC when this content was reviewed.

The TEC partnership

TEC supports Tanzanian-led education. Its published partners include Gould Academy, Princeton in Africa and Team4Tech. TEC is a separate US nonprofit; school admissions and institutional enquiries should go to the school team.

Start with the school directory, which shows each campus location, available learning stages and attendance options. Read the individual school pages before requesting a visit. For a child transferring between schools, ask about placement and any records needed from the previous school.
